Data Center

Our choice of data center provides state-of-the-art fiber optic network and multiple carriers move your data wherever it needs to be at the speed of light.

But the network isn’t just fast – it has been built from the ground up to also be the most secure and reliable network infrastructure possible. There are six different fiber carriers that terminate to in the facility which is more than any other data center in this region. Time Warner Telecom, SBC, Pac Bell, WorldCom, XO Communications, Cox, and ICG all terminate into the data center.

Socaldata currently operates from a state-of-the-art data center located in Irvine, CA. This facility boasts fully redundant power with diesel generators for backup, diverse paths and providers for Internet access, and automated, reliable security services. This facility offers industry standard physical environment control features and has plenty of scalable space for our customers’ growth needs. The data center is a showcase for the state-of-the-art in Internet services and data center capabilities.

There is a flexible and redundant HVAC design that supports the cooling load required. The HVAC system maintains optimum temperature (68/F +/-2/F) and humidity levels. The air is also filtered continuously for contaminants. The data center employs such strict standards to protect our equipment from excess wear and tear. This reduces the amount of client resources needed for maintenance of overheated equipment, server replacement/upgrade downtime, and equipment cleaning.

The data center offers a premier power system designed to provide continuous, redundant, and protected AC or DC power to our clients. Built to N+1 redundancy, we offer a unique power features into our data centers. These features protect against brownouts, blackouts, power spikes, and other electrical events.

Socaldata has designed our systems to maintain power. Power is operational at all times, providing clean power to the facility. The data center design allows for additional UPS units and generators as the facility expands to ensure the power load can be maintained in the event of a power outage. Cut over to the back-up generator is automatic and can run as long as required until commercial power is restored uninterrupted for two hours.

The data center views fire protection as a three-step process: fire prevention, fire detection, and fire suppression. As part of the design of the data center, specific limitations on amp usage and BTU output in each cabinet, cage and rack, reduces the risk of electrical fires in the data center. There is also control of the flow of cooled air with the use of ventilated floor tiles to ensure consistent temperatures throughout the data center.

Socaldata understands the critical nature of our clients’ data and services. The data center has designed a comprehensive access and security policy for protecting all systems. These policies protect our clients from unnecessary downtime because of sabotage, unauthorized personnel accessing equipment, or unfortunate mishaps, such as tripping over wires and accidentally bumping servers.

The network access is built on four major elements. These are Fiber Carriers, Upstream Providers, Backbone Connectivity, and the Core Network housed in the data center. The Core Network is a redundant switched Ethernet architecture providing Ethernet, FastEthernet, and Fast EtherChannel connectivity. Alternative options are available to support electrical DS3 and OC3 (fiber) connectivity to support alternate provider connections.
